Artwork:

• Have a look at this specification guide to ensure you submit your artwork correctly:

Proof:

• In order for us to ensure that your artwork is printed correctly, please supply a proof (eg laser print) for our reference.

Preferred File Formats:

• PDF – please supply print ready with fonts embedded (preferably PDF/X-1a as per industry standard)
• Indesign - supply fonts or convert to outlines, supply all linked image files
• Illustrator – supply fonts or convert to outlines, supply all linked image files
• Freehand – supply fonts or convert to paths, supply all linked image files
• Quark Express – supply fonts and images
• Corel Draw – supply fonts or convert to curves, supply all linked image files
• Photoshop – colour mode CMYK, resolution at least 300 dpi, flatten image unless using vector layers, supply fonts when using vector fonts. Preferably saved as PSD or TIFF file

Bleed:

• Please ensure that your documents have a minimum of 3mm bleed all around.

Different Formats:

• If you wish to submit artwork created using a program not listed above, we will more than likely still be able to accommodate you but please call Alois on +27 (0)21 409 1250 to discuss first.

Colour Modes:

• Please ensure that, unless artwork is being printed using spot colours, all colour swatches and linked or embedded images are CMYK. If you are using a Pantone colour in a 4 colour job, please supply a CMYK break down of the colour.

Fonts:

• Include all fonts you have used in the file. Virtual Colour assumes all fonts supplied are licensed and takes no responsibility for embedded fonts.

Screens:

• Screen tints may range from 99% down to 1%. Though from a practical point of view, you generally won’t be able to see anything above 90% or less than 5% with the naked eye.

High Resolution Digital Proofs:

• Our prices include a PDF proof. If you require a high-resolution digital proof these can be supplied for an extra charge. Our Epson proofs are calibrated to ISO standard.  

Artwork Amendments or Resubmissions:

• Our prices include "preflight checking" your artwork and submitting a PDF proof for your approval.

Sending Artwork Electronically:

• E-mail – Smaller jobs (up to 5mb) can be sent via email to production@virtualcolour.co.za. Please include all relevant information and instructions regarding the job.
• FTP – You can upload larger jobs to our FTP server. Please contact us to get our FTP details. You will also need to have FTP software installed (eg Fetch – Mac or FileZilla – PC).

Files larger than this should be sent on disk. Call us on +27 (0)21 409 1237 if you require your artwork picked up.
